The term of office of the Parliamentary Ombudsman Petri Jääskeläinen will end on 31 December 2025. Jääskeläinen has announced that he will not seek for reappointment.
The position of Parliamentary Ombudsman for the four-year period from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2029 is currently open. According to the Parliament, individuals available for the role of Parliamentary Ombudsman are invited to submit their applications to the Secretary General of Parliament no later than 15 October 2025 at 15:00.
