Subjects of complaints


Social welfare and health services

For the past ten years most complaints have concerned social welfare and health services. In 2010 nearly one in three of the Ombudsman's decisions dealt with these sectors. 765 (806 in 2009) decisions related to social security, with social welfare accounting for 486 (474) and social insurance for 279 (332). The Ombudsman issued 441 decisions concerning health services.

Police

The second-biggest category of complaints concerned the police. Last year 694 (723) decisions were issued.

Prisons
 
Last year, the number of complaints received from prisoners still decreased sligthly. Decisions were issued in 315 (400) cases.
 
Courts of law

Decisions concerning courts of law were issued in 220 (255) cases.

Other subjects of complaints

In addition, the Ombudsman receives many complaints concerning labour and municipal matters as well as education and environmental matters and distraint proceedings. The number of decisions issued in relation to labour matters was 243 (227) and 194 (177) in municipal matters, 133 (150) in education, 143 (127) in environmental matters. Taxation was subject of 63 (90) decisions and distraint proceedings of 96 decisions.
